About The Owner

Jacara "Jay" Ware, MBA

Born and raised in Ft. Myers, Florida, Jacara grew up around sports. Whether it was watching her dad coach a Pop Warner football team or cheering on her cousins from the stands, Jacara soon realized the impact that sports had within the community. Her underlying interest and passion for sports provided the foundation for where her career would soon take her.

Jacara stayed in Florida for college, obtaining a B.S. in Business Management from the University of South Florida. Her willingness to take on new challenges paired with her motivation to learn led her to pursue an MBA in Sports Administration, which she received from the Saint Leo University. While a full-time graduate student, Jacara worked as an Assistant Branch Manager for Hertz in Houston, Texas. Her tenure with Hertz opened her eyes to the practical application of business management and sales strategies in the workplace. She was able to learn how to successfully manage a team, organize a business, and do what she truly enjoyed—connecting with people.

As her experience in business grew, she continued to find ways to expand her network and develop professionally. With this in mind, she joined the Houston Area Urban League of Young Professionals (HAULYP) while she was living in Texas. She demonstrated her enthusiasm for advancing her career by remaining active in the group, whether that was through participating in networking opportunities or attending local business events. As a result of her dedication, Jacara received an invite to the 2013 Major League Baseball Diversity Summit. Throughout the summit, Jacara conducted informational interviews with executives from many different MLB teams, one being with the Arizona Diamondbacks. This interview led to Jacara’s first job in professional sports and she’s currently the Advertising & Multicultural Marketing Manager. Within the first 18 months of her tenure with the team, she received 2 promotions. Jacara learned from other departments within the organization, soon realizing her skillset would be best exemplified in a marketing role. Eventually the day came, and a marketing position opened with the D-backs.

Jacara’s marketing expertise and passion for connecting with people inspired her to create HeartWare Marketing, LLC “HWM” in October 2017. She built her business around authenticity- a trait that she values in both her personal and professional life. HeartWare Marketing assists athletes, businesses and nonprofits with branding, business consulting, public relations, and strategic marketing. With clients across the nation, HWM provides unique marketing and branding strategies that showcase client’s passions.

Even after years of working in business and marketing, Jacara still devotes time toward professional and organizational development. In 2017, Jacara was accepted into the 2nd class of ‘She Leads!’—a women’s development program hosted by the Arizona Foundation of Women. After completing this program, she served as an Advisor for the following 2018 & 2019 classes and is now a part of the Alumni Committee and the Fundraising Committee.

Jacara is also a Council member for the ‘D-backs for Change’ initiative, where she works with the organization’s leadership to ensure alignment of the organization’s business, cultural, community and diversity and inclusion strategies. Further, Jacara’s influence on the sport of baseball has been acclaimed on an international stage. She has spoken at several conferences and leadership panels including the most recent with the International Women’s Baseball Center (IWBC) and Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). Her impact is to be recognized through the creation of a memorial at the IWBC’s museum in Rockford, Illinois (which will commemorate influential African American women in baseball).

Aside from her professional accolades, Jacara is also heavily involved within the community. As her network and mentors have helped to grow her career, she serves as the Vice President for Women in Sports & Events (WISE) Arizona and on the Board of Directors for Linking Sports & Communities to do the same for others. Since 2010, Jacara has been an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, a community-based organization that provides programs that support education, health, international development, and the strengthening of the African American family. She utilizes these platforms to connect with the community, offering support and mentorship to her peers. She’s the co-founder and co-host of the Women in Sports UNFILTERED podcast, available on all platforms including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Jacara also enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time with family and occasional weekend getaways to California.
